Château Laniote 2020
Appellation Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
2020 : An exceptional year… from all points of view!
Don’t go back to the health crisis and its consequences!
In addition to what everyone experienced, we had to face complicated climatic conditions: a very mild and wet winter, an early winter’s exit with a warm and sunny month of March, hence an early budburst. Thus, there was a risk of spring frosts at the end of March. Then the weather deteriorated and returned to rain and storms: risks of hail and contaminations….
Finally, summer came with hot and dry weather until the very early harvest.
Modest yields but very good quality: the 2020 has a deep, brilliant purple colour. On the nose, it is marked by great aromatic purity with notes of spices and black fruits. The ageing in wood develops its complexity. On the palate: one is seized by its density and fleshiness, its slow and smooth development, velvety and silky tannins that finish with power.
