Château Laniote 2022

Appellation Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé

The year 2022 is still fresh in everyone’s mind: hot and dry all summer long. A very special year: never seen before! The summer was very fine and hot, but without excessive temperatures; however, rainfall was very rare, and there was not the slightest hint of a thunderstorm… Fortunately, the deep clay-limestone terroir of Laniote, on a chalky Asteries subsoil, allowed water regulation even in water-stressed conditions: the foliage did not suffer and was able to function throughout the season. The grapes, which were very small, were very rich in sugar, both through photosynthesis and concentration. The result is breathtaking: a very fine ripeness, richness and fullness that have never been seen before: a fruity, powerful wine with exceptional length on the palate. Of course, the yield is low because of the concentration, but this is an emblematic vintage that should be left to mature in the cellar.
